The invitation-only evening celebrated
our 30 years of service to Los Angeles and the Grand Opening of our 30th housing site, the Rosslyn Hotel Apartments.

This historic property, built in 1923, now provides 264 homes. More than half of the beautifully restored studio apartments are dedicated to homeless and

Our promise to open doors and transform lives begins when our residents receive the keys to their new homes.

Everything we do is focused on providing a sense of home,
dignity and hope.
We cannot do it alone.
We greatly appreciate the help of our partners and people like you who share our commitment to working towards ending homelessness in
downtown Los Angeles.

It All Begins with a Home.

SRO HOUSING CORPORATION Veterans Day Luncheon 2014

SRO Housing Corporation Annual Veterans Day Luncheon was celebrated at our James Wood Community Center on November 11, 2014. Veterans who attend the luncheon range in age from WWII and Korean War vets in their 80s and 90s, to Vietnam-era veterans, and younger vets who served in Desert Storm and Middle East conflicts. The luncheon featured a  Color Guard presentation by University of Southern California ROTC, a sit-down meal provided by Alston-Bird, LLP and the  Palos Verdes Links, Inc. and music by Steve Orona Band.

Holly Hannula of NBC4 “Today in LA” served as Master of Ceremonies and luncheon was served by volunteers including  Jan Perry, former Los Angeles City Councilmember whose district included Skid Row. Prizes and gifts were provided by  AT&T Pioneers and Shelter Partnership. Our James Wood Community Center is the only such center in Skid Row and  provides the dignity of sit-down hot meals to seniors every weekday and welcomes veterans each year for our annual  Veterans Day celebration.

“Too often, homeless veterans are forgotten. We recognize and appreciate the sacrifice they have made on our behalf and honor their service with this annual luncheon,” says SRO Housing Corporation CEO, Anita Nelson.

The National Coalition for the Homeless has designated December 20th as National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day, the day to remember homeless and low-income persons who have passed away in the last year.  This year’s Homeless and Low-Income Persons’ Memorial was held on Friday, December 20, 2013 in James Wood Community Center.
