Property Management

SRO Housing Corporation offers clean, safe and affordable single room occupancy housing (emergency/short-term, transitional and permanent) for homeless and low-income individuals.

While some units consist of a sink, complete furnishings, linens and a refrigerator, others include a private bathroom and kitchenette. In general, anyone over the age of 18 without a permanent residence and with some form of steady income is eligible to live in an SRO Housing Corporation unit. Experienced and trained security staff monitor all sites 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A number of sites offer accommodations for older or frail adults (aged 55 years and over), people with stabilized chronic mental illness, those recovering from substance abuse, persons living with HIV/AIDS, persons with co-occurring disorders, and veterans.

Emergency Shelter

The Russ Hotel accepts clients from other agencies such as the Los Angeles County Department of Social Services, County Department of Health Services, County Department of Mental Health, LAHSA, etc.

Russ Hotel

The Russ Hotel is a 168-unit single room occupancy emergency housing facility. The building has shared bathrooms, a community lounge area, laundry facilities, social service offices, a Resource Desk and rental offices. All units come fully furnished. The Russ Hotel is located adjacent to San Julian Park. Single Room Occupancy Housing Company completed renovations in 1989.

Marshal House

The Marshal House is a 74-unit transitional housing facility for homeless veterans. The building has shared bathrooms, showers, community kitchen, community lounge, case management offices, and laundry facilities. All units come fully furnished. In addition to providing transitional housing, additional services include case management services, food services, support groups, 12-step meetings, money management, job education and job referrals.

Angelus Inn

The Angelus Inn is a 30-unit, single room occupancy housing facility. The building has shared bathrooms, showers, community kitchen, and community lounge. All units come fully furnished. The Angelus Inn was placed in service in 1989 and renovated in 1991. The property has been awarded Section 8 certificates. 29 units receive rental subsidies.

Brownstone

427 E. 5th St.

The Brownstone Apartments is a 48-unit studio apartment complex, including a property manager’s unit. All units have individual bathrooms and kitchens in every unit, a community kitchen and lounge space/computer lab, property manager/security office, case management offices and laundry facility. There is an ‘alcohol-free’ grocery market called Best Market on the first floor. All units at the Brownstone Apartments receive rental subsidies. All units come fully furnished.

Carlton

The Carlton Hotel is a 44-unit single room occupancy housing facility. The building has shared bathrooms, showers, community kitchen, community lounge, laundry facilities and an outdoor patio area. All units come fully furnished. The Carlton’s original renovation occurred in 1992.

Courtland

The Courtland is a 95-unit single room occupancy housing facility. The building has shared bathrooms, showers, community kitchens on each floor, community lounge, case management offices and laundry facilities. All units come fully furnished.

Ellis

The Ellis is a 58-unit single room occupancy housing facility for at-risk elderly. 14 of these units are for individuals with special needs and receive rental subsidies. The building has shared bathrooms, showers, community kitchen, community lounge, laundry facilities and an elevator. All units come fully furnished. This property is also connected to Gladys Park (through a side door).

Eugene

The Eugene Apartments is a 44-unit studio apartment complex. The building has private bathrooms and kitchenettes, a community kitchen, community lounge, laundry facilities, a basement and an outdoor rear patio area. All units come fully furnished.

Florence

The Florence is a 61-unit single room occupancy housing facility. The building has shared bathrooms, showers, community kitchen, community lounge, case management offices and laundry facilities. 55 units are for individuals with special needs and receive rental subsidies. All units come fully furnished.

Ford

The Ford Apartments is a 151-unit, 6-story studio apartment complex. All units have separate accessible bathrooms along with living, dining and cooking areas, double-glazed windows, closets and cabinet space. The building has an elevator, community room with community kitchen, conference/computer room and a laundry facility for the residents. All units come fully furnished.

Gateways Apartments is a 108-unit,
6-story studio apartment complex.
The units are approximately 400 sq. ft. including a kitchenette and private bathroom. All units have separate bathrooms along with individual living, dining and cooking areas, double-glazed windows, linoleum flooring in the bedroom/living areas, air conditioning, closets and cabinet space. All units come fully furnished. The building has 2 elevators, community room with community kitchen, conference room, computer room, laundry facility, subterranean parking and solar panels on the roof. This is SRO Housing’s first certified LEED Gold building.

Golden West

The Golden West is a 59-unit single room occupancy housing facility. The building has shared bathrooms, showers, community kitchen, community lounge, laundry facilities. All units come fully furnished. The program also provides clinical guidance, socialization activities, money management, training for independent living, and educational self-help groups. Golden West opened in 1988, and was converted from transitional housing to permanent housing in 2013.

Harold

The Harold is a 56-unit single room occupancy affordable permanent supportive housing facility. The building has shared bathrooms, showers, community kitchen, community lounge, case management office, laundry facilities and an outdoor patio area. All units come fully furnished. 43 units are reserved for individuals with special needs and receive rental subsidies.

Haskell

The Haskell is a 38-unit single room occupancy housing facility. The building has shared bathrooms, showers, community kitchen, community lounge, case management offices and laundry facilities. All units come fully furnished. Renovations were completed in 1992.

Hartford

The Hartford Villa Apartments consists of 100 studio apartments. This site will open in 2021 and provides indoor and outdoor recreation and lounge spaces as well as a community kitchen. There are two levels of subterranean parking.

Ingraham Apartments

The Ingraham Apartments opened in May 2023. This new building consists of 120 studio apartments with private bathrooms and kitchenettes. All units are furnished. In addition, there is on-site property management, case management, community room with large kitchen, and two community lounges. Outside decks; Income restrictions applicable.

La Jolla

The La Jolla is a 52-unit single room occupancy housing facility. The building has shared bathrooms, showers, community kitchen, community lounge, laundry facilities. All units come fully furnished. Single Room Occupancy Housing Company completed renovation in 1993.

James M. Wood

The James M. Wood Apartments is a 53-unit studio apartment complex. All units have individual bathrooms, individual kitchens and air-conditioning. The building has an elevator, community room with community kitchen, conference and computer room, property manager and case management offices, laundry facility and one level of subterranean parking. 31 units are reserved for chronically homeless individuals with special needs. All units come fully furnished. James M. Wood Apartments opened in July 2009.

Leonide

The Leonide Apartments is a 64-unit single room occupancy housing facility. The building has shared bathrooms, showers, community kitchen, community lounge, laundry facilities. All units come fully furnished. SRO Housing acquired the property in 1998 and completed renovations in 1992.

New Terminal

The New Terminal is a 40-unit studio apartment complex. All units have individual bathrooms and kitchens in every unit, come fully furnished and receive rental subsidies. The building has an elevator, community room with community kitchen, conference/computer room, case management offices, center courtyard and a laundry facility. There are two street-level commercial spaces. New Terminal Apartments opened in 2005.

Renato

The Renato Apartments is a 96-unit studio apartment complex. 58 units are reserved for Chronic Homeless Persons w/ Mental Illness. All units have individual bathrooms and kitchens in every unit and come fully furnished. Renato Apartments has two elevators, community room with community kitchen, conference/computer room, a library, a center courtyard and a laundry facility for the residents. There are 2 levels of subterranean parking.

Lyndon

The Lyndon Apartments is a 53-unit studio apartment complex. Prior to rehabilitation, the Lyndon was 3 stories and the 4th floor was added to accommodate expansion of the units so that every unit would have a private individual bathroom and individual kitchenette. 48 units are for individuals with special needs and receive rental subsidies. All units come fully furnished. Lyndon has an elevator, community room with community kitchen, conference / computer room, case management offices and a laundry facility for the residents.

Panama

The Panama Apartments is a 72 unit studio apartment complex. All units have individual bathrooms and kitchens in every unit, in addition to a new community kitchen and lounge space, computer lab, security office, property manager and case management offices, laundry room and elevator. All units are fully furnished.

Palmer House

The Palmer House is a 67-unit single room occupancy housing facility. The building has shared bathrooms, showers, community kitchen, community lounge, laundry facilities and a small courtyard. All units come fully furnished. Renovations of the Palmer House were completed in 1992.

The Regal is a 70-unit single room occupancy housing facility. The building has shared bathrooms, showers, community kitchen, community lounge, laundry facilities. All units come fully furnished. SRO Housing Company completed renovations in 1992 and the units have been awarded Section 8 certificates.

Rosslyn Hotel

The Rosslyn Hotel Apartments is a historic site and consists of a 264 studio apartment complex. Currently, 167 units are set aside for chronic homeless individuals including 119 Veterans. All units are completely furnished.

RISE Apartments

The RISE Apartments opened in 2021. This site consists of 57 studio apartments with private bathrooms and kitchenettes; 45 apartments are restricted for veterans. All apartments are fully furnished. On site laundry facility, outside decks, and community room with kitchen. Income restrictions applicable.

Rivers Hotel

The Rivers Hotel is a 76-unit studio apartment complex. All units have individual bathrooms and kitchens in every unit and come fully furnished. 60 units receive rental subsidies. The building has an elevator, community room with community kitchen, conference / computer room, case management offices, center courtyard and a laundry facility.

The Southern is a 55-unit single room occupancy housing facility. All units have private bathrooms. This site has 3 common-area community kitchens, a community room and a indoor courtyard. All units come fully furnished. This facility opened in 2000.

Ward Hotel

The Ward Hotel is a 72-unit single room occupancy housing facility. 16 units are set aside for individuals with special needs and receive rental subsidies. All units come fully furnished. The building has shared bathrooms, community lounge area, community kitchen and laundry facility. The building opened in 1992.

Yankee

The Yankee Apartments is an 80-unit studio apartment complex. All units have individual bathrooms and kitchens in every unit and come fully furnished. 22 units are market-rate rent, 56 units receive rental subsidies, and two units are manager and assistant manager units. The building has an elevator, community room with community kitchen, conference / computer room, center courtyard, case management offices and a laundry facility. There’s also one level of underground parking.
